Yesterday, the office of the chief registrar transferred 25 magistrates and registrars and they will effect from 1 January, 2017.

According to Gadenya Paul Wolimbwa, the judiciary Chief Registrar, the decision to transfer the judicial officers was based on different reasons which include; movement of judicial officers who had overstayed in the stations, promoting better relations between the judiciary and stakeholders especially with the JLOS community and the district authorities, improvements in service delivery, filling posts in the recently created high court circuits and replacing retired judicial officers and generally balancing gender.

Among those transferred include the High Court criminal division Deputy Registrar Eleanor Khainza who has been posted to Mukono whereas Kasese Grade one Magistrate George Miftundida has been sent to Ssembabule.

Former Buganda Road Chief Magistrate Olive Kazaarwe Mukwaya who has been a Deputy Registrar for the planning and development registry has been sent to the commercial court whereas Law Development Centre court grade one Magistrate Moses Baligeya Mufumbiro will now work in Kalangala.
