Today over 1,000 police officers face eviction from various police barracks in Kampala Metropolitan area.
According to the police circular issued to all police divisions in Kampala, some police personnels must shift their families and property to their new work stations by close of business on Tuesday.
According to Emilian Kayima, the Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson, all police officers who reside where they do not work from must vacate and all division commanders have been ordered to over see the eviction process.
Atleast 600 affected personnels are currently under going training in several police schools where there are no housing provisions for their families.
Another category of police officers to be evicted are those who reside in barracks where they do not work.
Many officers leave their families behind when transferred especially in hard to reach areas.
Kayima however told BBS Tv on Tuesday morning that police has a housing crisis. However, police was in the process of building 10,000 modern housing units in Naguru, Nakawa Division.
