President Yoweri Museveni has urged leaders in Uganda to lead the process of the transformation of their communities so that the general population in the country can be converted to the money economy.
“Operation Wealth Creation was launched to accelerate the struggle of achieving socio economic transformation in the country leading the process of production into a modern way for both financial and food security,” he said.
The President was today delivering a lecture to 50 Senior Army Officers who are in the final stages of the conclusion of their six weeks political and leadership course that has been running at the National Leadership Institute (NALI) in Kyankwanzi. The lecture was held at State House, Entebbe.
The course aims at preparing the Army Officers to further training at the Command and Staff College, Kimaka in Jinja.
President Museveni exhaustively told the Officers that the major principles of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) include patriotism, pan-Africanism, socio-economic transformation and democracy, among others. He emphasized the need for society to transform from manual to intellectual labour through education and skills’ development.
The President reiterated his call on Ugandans to prioritize unity as the only way to prosperity.
“When we talk of unity, it’s not a slogan. You need Ugandans and Africans for purposes of trade and prosperity,” he said.
The Director of the Kyankwanzi-based National Leadership Institute (NALI), Brig. Kasura Kyomukama, led the 50 Army Officers.
