Besigye is set to bring one of his cows for auction to the highest bidder which money shall be contributed to the cause of raising the incentives the lecturers are demanding the university.
Recently, Besigye said government‘s action to close the university was uncalled for and he demanded immediate opening of the institution. He also asked the university council to release the payment for the lecturers.
On November 1, 2016, President Yoweri Museveni passed a directive ordering the immediate closure of the university.
According to Museveni, he did this to protect the lives and property of people which would have been lost due to the uncoordinated strikes at the university.
