Police in Kasambya, Rakai district, has fired live bullets in the air to prevent a mob from lynching three people accused of cannibalism.

The mob stormed homes of suspects identified as Flavia Namatovu, Vicent Lule and Paul Sembatya all residents of Kasambya village in Kyotera town council.

The trio were accused of keeping a dead body of the late James Bikalazi in one of their houses.

It took the intervention of the police that used teargas and fire bullets to disperse the angry mob.

David Ibanda, the Rakai district criminal investigation officer confirmed the development saying, investigations into the matter continue before anyone is charged.
