As hundreds of former and current members of Parliament get jubilee medals for their contributions to the August House, some former legislators have rejected the recognition.

Only 850 people have confirmed to attend the event going on at Kampala Serena Conference Centre.

Dr Kizza Besigye, one of the founding Military representatives and his wife Winnie Byanyima, a former MP Mbarara Municipality, have not turned up, and didn’t register any apologies with the speaker or clerk’s office.
Miria Matembe, former Mbarara district legislator says she doesn’t need medals from parliament since it’s not beneficial to her. She says the appreciation for any former worker should be pension, which she has never seen.
