Elections in the Kigezi region were peaceful  despite few complaints of missing names from the registers and low turn up in most of the places, according to the Kigezi region Police spokesperson Elly maate.

The two administrative units of  Kirundo subcounty  and the newly created Rubuguri town council in Kisoro district, elections didn’t take place due to raised complaints by local leaders related to irregularities in those units.
Elly Maate adds that  there was also a sudden death of a 70 years old Deziderio Tumwineho of Kirembe village Kandago parish Bikinda subcounty Rukiga district who just collapsed from where he was seated  and died instantly.
He was the chairperson of the elderly of his village.
Elly Maate says that the exercise ended normally without much of concern.
Local Council elections were held on Tuesday countrywide.
